RJC Women's News |
After a two year absence of a Sisterhood in the RJC, four young
energentic women decided to join forces and re-establish a women's group. We changed the
name to RJC Women, decided what our goals would be, formed committees, and got to work. We
united the Shul at our Pre-Purim luncheon, which was a huge success. It is the obligations
of every RJC Woman to be a member - so women of all ages join us and make the year 2000
record one for RJC Women's membership. In our effort to serve the synagogue and
community as well as to add meaning to the lives of Jewish women we have done the
following: |

the constuction of the new building: $5,000 for the renovation and furnishing of the
bride's room

$ 350 as a sponsor for the Women's Forum of RIverdale
$3,190 for the purchase of a Chanukiah and Havadallah
$ 180 for the celebration of Jerusalem's 3000 yearsOur varied and many functrions
include luncheons, parties and dinners at Purim, Chanukah, Tub, Shvat, Succah, theatre
parties, book reviews and scheduled speakers as the following: |

Visitis to the following places, Museum of Jewish Heritage,Jewish
Museum in Manhattan ,Yeshiva Judica Museum in Wahington Heights, and Ellis Island.
- We provide a "Shiva" meal for a bereaved family.
- RJC Women provide every Bar Mitzvah boy and every Bas Mitzvah girl with a TENAKH.
- RJC Women arrange for the purchase of the greens for the Succah and help with the
decoration of the Succah.
- RJC Women arrange for the flowers and decoration of the Shul for Shavuoth. They also
contibute to the refreshments and tend to the serving during lecture series.
- RJC Women invite you to attend its annual Spring Luncheon Tuesday, June 22 12:30 PM -
Szechuan Garden. Admission $18 -Reservations must be paid in advance-Please RSVP by June
